Karel Ksandr, Director General of the NTM, said. The National Technical Museum, which presents valuable evidence of our technical history and present in its exhibitions and in the buildings in which it is housed, will join this event for the fourth time.”
The programme at the Centre of Building Heritage of the NTM Plasy:
13:30, 15:00, 16:30 / STRUCTURE / workshop on creative photographic techniques, which, like the exhibition Filmmakers Hanzelka and Zikmund, shows that the journey of photography and film can be full of surprises.
The photographer Ivo Kornatovský will work with the workshop participants on the surface of black and white light-sensitive photographic material using photochemical solutions (fixer, developer). The graphic representation, which is created as drawing, painting and printing and realized in a normal light environment, develops the abilities of human creativity, imagination, associations.
18:00 / TANGO ANTARCTICO / a lecture by the hydrobiologist, polar explorer and traveller Maria Bulínová, who discovered a new species of diatom algae on Vega Island in Antarctica and named it Hantzschia zikmundiana, will take the audience not only to Antarctica, but also to Mr. Zikmund’s study and research laboratory.
The twenty-five-year-old hydrobiologist, whom Mr Zikmund called “baby” when we met, has taken her research to the least touched places on Earth – Spitsbergen, Greenland and, above all, Antarctica. She is passionate about photography, filming and flying drones. Naming a new biological species has enabled Mr. Zikmund to leave his own footprint in Antarctica, the last continent he has yet to visit.
20:00 / outdoor screening of THE CENTURY OF MIROSLAV ZIKMUND / a biopic that offers a distinctive look at the turbulent history of the twentieth century through the eyes of a man who knew the world.
7. on the first Saturday in September 2019, the National Technical Museum will join the European Heritage Days in the NTM main building in Prague Letná and in the NTM Railway Depository in Chomutov.
