How to reach us
Part of the Centre of Building Heritage is also the farm yard of the Plasz Monastery. Its appearance refers to the Baroque period, but the preserved medieval building elements suggest that its origins date back to the time when the Cistercian monastery was founded, i.e. to the mid-12th century.
Within the Centre of Building Heritage, the farm yard serves as the Court of Building Crafts. It houses historic craft workshops with original machinery, which have often lost none of their beauty and functionality even after more than 100 years. During a special guided tour, you will learn a lot not only about the functioning of the Baroque farm yard, but also about the old machines that are housed in it. In addition, you will be able to see how they can be used to make a mason’s trowel – an attribute of all builders. The most attentive visitors will take the spoon made during the tour home with them.
The demonstration of the production of the mason’s spoon is part of the programme “How Master Matěj Ondřej Kondel came to the spoon”, which was supported by the Pilsen Region (www.turisturaj.cz) and was held for the first time as part of the Summer Baroque Festival of the Pilsen Region (www.zapadoceskebaroko.cz) at the Centre of Building Heritage in Plasy on 23 June 2018.
