The National Technical Museum will exhibit one of its most precious exhibits – the original carriage of J. Hanzelka and M. Zikmund – in the Centre of Building Heritage of NTM Plasy during the Plasy Pilgrimage.
On Saturday, 17 August, in cooperation with the Tatra Heritage Association, a meeting of Tatra cars will take place in the courtyard in front of the Building Exhibition. The expected participation is around ten cars. Organised on the 100th anniversary of the birth of Ing. Miroslav Zikmund, a native of Pilsen.
The Tatra 87 – the car with which the legendary H+Z duo made their first round-the-world journey and which has been declared a National Cultural Monument – will be exceptionally displayed outside the transport hall of the main building of the National Technical Museum and will complement, at least briefly, the exhibition dedicated to the two travellers this year at the NTM Plasy Centre of Building Heritage.
The legendary air-cooled V8 engine, which was capable of reaching speeds of up to 160 km/h, will be parked in the courtyard in front of the Exposition of Civil Engineering in one of the oldest garages that have survived on our territory. The garage was used to run the brewery, was heated by steam from the brewery boiler and was equipped with hot and cold water supply. Its plans date from 1912.
The event is financially supported by the Pilsen Region (www.turisturaj.cz).
