The Luigi Micheletti Award is a European award for museums that seek new ways of approaching the world of contemporary history, industry and science in its full spectrum of complexity, context and interpretation. The award is sponsored by the European Museum Academy (EMA). The National Technical Museum has managed to be among the museums nominated for the 2017 Micheletti Prize with its project Plasy Building Heritage Centre, placing it among the top European museums.
The nomination for the Luigi Micheletti Award was received by the Director General of the NTM Mgr. Karel Ksandr at the European Museum Academy conference in the Macedonian capital Skopje on 29 September 2017. The presentation of the Plasy Centre of Building Heritage of the National Technical Museum met with a very positive response among the representatives of European museums present. Considering that the decisive criteria in this competition are, above all, openness to new perspectives, the ability to present and interpret its collections and themes in an innovative and creative way, to be a contemporary museum for the contemporary visitor, the Centre for Building Heritage is rightly proud of this nomination.
The Micheletti Prize has been awarded since 1996, and this is the third year that the National Technical Museum has applied for it. In 1997 and in 2014 it was among the finalists, and this year, 2017, it can also rank among the best European museums.
