As part of the popular Summer Baroque Festival of the Pilsen Region, this year the National Technical Museum’s Centre of Building Heritage in Plasy will host an event called “Carriage Festival or to the praise and glory of nineteen crafts.” The programme of the festival will take place in the environment of the economic part of the Baroque monastery of Plasy, where there is an exceptional space for demonstrations of period crafts and activities. The event will delight young and adult visitors alike, who will be able to learn about the crafts associated with the construction and operation of historic carriages and the work of the stablemen who look after the horses. A rich programme is prepared to give the festivities a period context. A horse-drawn carriage carrying a historical figure will be accompanied by a military regiment to the sound of drums and a baroque fireworks display will conclude the event.
NTM Director General Karel Ksandr says: “I am very pleased that this year’s carriage festival will be presented at our Centre of Building Heritage in Plasy. The National Technical Museum has participated in several events in the castle park in Bohemia pod Kosířem, which the Carriage Museum regularly organises, and I can confirm that the programme will be excellent.”
