The competition showcase of buildings realized in the Czech Republic in the last five years is intended to serve the continuous promotion of quality Czech architecture. It includes a wide range of works – from large complexes and expensive buildings to small works, even of a temporary nature. The best 33 nominated projects can be viewed from 14 June to 31 December 2018 in the outdoor exhibition of the National Technical Museum’s Centre of Building Heritage in Plasy. Admission to the exhibition is free.
In 2018, a seven-member international jury selected from a total of 145 entries. The authors of the nominated buildings include both established studios and young and not very well known to the public creators. The most common theme of this year’s nominations is, as last year, family houses and villas, but we can also find sports facilities, a funeral parlour, a chapel, a cable car station, a cinema or a brewery.
You can see all the entries in the video by the Czech Chamber of Architects, the competition’s organizer. The name of the winner of the Main Prize and the other finalists will be announced on 19 November 2018 at a gala evening at the Forum Karlín.
